Cartier Wind Energy

A Kiewit led partnership completed its last phase of a six year contract with Cartier Wind Energy by erecting the last of a total of 354 GE 1.5MW SLE windmills, scattered throughout 4 different wind farms in the Gaspésie region, Baie-des-Sables, Anse-à-Valleau, Carleton and Gros-Morne.

The main scope of the contract was to supply the cranes needed for the offloading and erection of windmill components. The fleet of cranes included two Manitowoc 16000 crawler cranes rigged with 295’ of main boom and a 23’ upper boom point. It also included two American 9520 truck cranes, one rigged with 140’ of main boom, the other with 150’. There were also three Grove RT hydraulic cranes used as tailing cranes to support the operations of the bigger cranes.
